Community & Growth Lead
What you'll do
You'll build the engine that gets crews formed. Crewmates is launching campus-first — our initial users are Gen Z university students forming study groups, fitness crews, and job hunt squads — and your job is to make that happen across UK universities. You'll design and run university ambassador programs, create short-form social content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) that resonates with how this generation actually talks about goals and friendship, and cultivate a pre-launch community through Discord and newsletter. You'll also own the viral loops baked into the product itself: crew invite links, wrapped recaps designed for sharing, and the organic word-of-mouth that happens when a crew is genuinely working. This is not a "run paid ads" role — it's a "build a movement on campus" role.
What we're looking for
- Experience building community or running growth for a consumer product — ideally something social, not SaaS
- A native understanding of Gen Z social platforms. You don't just post on TikTok — you understand why certain formats work and others don't
- Experience with ambassador or campus rep programs, influencer partnerships, or grassroots community building
- Strong writing and storytelling instincts. You can write a tweet, a newsletter, and a Discord announcement in the same afternoon and nail the tone for each
- Bonus: you've been part of a product launch that relied on organic/community-driven growth rather than paid acquisition
Compensation
Competitive compensation with equity — this role grows as the community grows. Salaried and open to conversation based on your background and what you've built before.
About Crewmates
Crewmates is a social accountability app for small groups pursuing shared goals. We believe goals are easier to pursue and harder to abandon when other people are watching, participating, and caring alongside you. Think Strava, but for all of life's goals — not just running. We're a small, early-stage team building something that sits at the intersection of productivity and social software, and we're looking for people who care about both the engineering and the human side of what we're making.
