Founding Frontend Engineer
What you'll do
You'll be the technical backbone of a product that lives and dies by how it feels in the hand. The core challenge is making a modular system — habit trackers, shared calendars, to-do lists, and more — feel like one cohesive, real-time experience rather than a collection of widgets. You'll own the frontend architecture, build real-time collaborative features, and obsess over the micro-interactions that make social features — streaks, nudges, reactions — feel alive rather than mechanical. This is a mobile-first product where every tap carries emotional weight.
Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, Tailwind CSS.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend tooling
- Comfort with real-time systems — presence, live sync, the kind of UI that feels multiplayer
- An eye for interaction design. You don't just implement specs — you notice when a transition feels wrong or a loading state breaks the emotional flow
- Experience with Supabase, Firebase, or similar backend-as-a-service platforms
- You've built something collaborative before — a shared editor, a multiplayer feature, a social feed — and you understand the edge cases that come with multiple users touching the same data
Compensation
We pay competitively and offer founding-level equity — this is a build-the-company role. Compensation is salaried and open to negotiation based on experience and what you bring to the table.
About Crewmates
Crewmates is a social accountability app for small groups pursuing shared goals. We believe goals are easier to pursue and harder to abandon when other people are watching, participating, and caring alongside you. Think Strava, but for all of life's goals — not just running. We're a small, early-stage team building something that sits at the intersection of productivity and social software, and we're looking for people who care about both the engineering and the human side of what we're making.
